Locum Tenens Emergency Medicine Physician
Specialty: Board Certified ABEM or ABOM (or recent resident graduates that have not been boarded yet)

Dates coverage is needed: ideal start date 5/01(this is flexible) – 6 months with option to extend for full year
Schedule/Shifts Times: Sunday – Saturday variable shifts (8p-8a, 8a-8p, 12p-12a, 12a-12p) schedule made in advance
Call Requirements: will respond to codes (no call requirements)
Patient Volume: 10-12 patients per day average
Patient Ages: all ages
Support Staff: yes – Specialty Physicians, mid-levels, RN’s, and admin support
Type of Charting: EMR – RPMS, CPRS
Requirements: BLS, ACLS, PALS (through American Heart), DEA (fee paid, schedules 2-5)
Reason for Need: staff shortage
Credentialing Timeframe: 4-6 weeks on average

Level IV trauma
The contractor shall provide emergency care on a regular and ongoing basis to patients seen in the emergency room. This includes stabilization and transfer of major trauma (penetrating wounds, hemorrhage, traumatic brain injury, significant blunt trauma etc.).

Contractor must be competent in the management, stabilization and transfer of pediatric trauma, pediatric advanced life support, adult cardiac life support, psychiatric emergencies such as suicide, and complex/critical medical conditions (septic shock, cardiopulmonary shock, end stage renal disease etc.).

The contractor shall be competent in advanced airway management including endotracheal intubation and Rapid Sequence Intubation


The Chinle Service Unit serves a population of 37,000. Covering an area of 3600 square miles, the hospital and clinic are the only medical services in the immediate area. The CCHCF is a 60-bed hospital, which provides medical, surgical, pediatric and obstetric care. The Emergency Department and the Urgent Care Department care for approximately 30,000 patients per year. The Emergency Department consists of nine (9) beds and emergency care services are provided on a 24-hour basis for adults, adolescent children, and infants. The Urgent Care consists of six (6) beds and is staffed by mid-level providers (Physician Assistants or Nurse Practitioners) who see patients that present for acute care and who have been triaged as lower acuity. The Urgent Care is an extension of the Emergency Department; utilizing the same central triage and staff, and subject to the same EMTALA regulations. The Urgent Care operates form 8 am – 8 pm. The Emergency Department also provides care for patients with less acute illnesses who present to the department after 8 pm. The Emergency Department is also staffed with an advanced care practitioner (Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner) from 12 pm – 12 am.
