Scope of Work:
This project involved a 14,000 sqft renovation of the 2nd floor of Building 1 at the Department of Veterans Affairs Healthcare System in Iowa City. The renovation included a complete demolition and new construction for the MOHS and Cardiology departments, featuring new procedure and exam rooms, office spaces, waiting areas, anesthesia rooms, and break rooms.
Challenges & Solutions
- Construction conducted while the facility remained fully operational
- Isolation of construction phases using fire-rated/clean room barriers and negative air environments
- Shift work and temporary acoustic barriers to minimize noise and vibration
- Coordination of phasing and operations with client and staff through weekly meetings
