Scope of Work:
This project involved the repair and upgrades to the 4,467 sqft boiler house at the St. Cloud VAMC. The work included demolition, relocation of utilities, and alterations to site utilities, as well as updates to the architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical systems. The project was executed while the boiler house remained operational, with minimal steam outages.
Challenges & Solutions
- Conducting construction in close proximity to surrounding medical facilities
- Utilizing shift work and temporary acoustic barriers to minimize noise and vibration
- Coordinating phased construction to maintain operations and meet tight schedules
- Implementing Infectious Control Risk Assessment measures to ensure safety
- Managing scheduled power outages, power transfers, and providing temporary emergency power, with 24-hour construction cycles during critical phases
